5227.0. "Tandem vs. OVMS cluster High Availability Rating ?" by DECPRG::AMBLER (ambler) Wed Feb 12 1997 04:38
    Hello,

our marketing received an "Affinity Executive Briefing Package" binder
in which is a small brochure - "Leveraging the affinity... OpenVMS and
WindowsNT". In this material on page 6 there is bar graph showing High
Availability/Fault Tolerance Ratings for OpenVMS cluster,Tandem,
IBM,Sun with the explanation text "Data excerpted from Gartner Group
research note High Availability Trends and Vendor Positioning". I would
like to ask if somebody knows if this GG study is available on-line
somewhere or if there is another study comparing current Tandem
ServerNet architecture with OVMS cluster solution.
My customer is asking for a comparison OVMS cluster vs. Tandem
solution from different point of view (price, performance,
    availability,...).

| | An AltaVista search on "High Availability Trends" got me to
    www.openvms.digital.com/openvms/brochures/affinity_waveii/ which led me
to www.gartner.com. Sadly the trail petered out at that point because
this pointer is incorrect according to the DEC nameserver.

However that page does have a phone number for Gartner, whose complete
    reports are seldom online.
