    A customer is experiencing the same behavior and I'm a little
    confused after reading the replies.  The customer stated that
    using the same process as described in .0 works on his VAX, but
    not on his alpha.  
    
    Did something change?  Should the behavior described in .4 be
    the same regardless of platform?
