I have a Venturis GL 6200 running Windows NT Workstation 4.0+SPx (now SP3). It has the factory-shipped SoundBlaster 16 PnP (CT2940) sound board. Audio output works fine most of the time. However, if the Media Player is launched, the system freezes for about 10 seconds. It will the act normally for one or two seconds and freeze again. This process usually repeats indefinitely until Media Player is killed (which is hard to do when the system is unresponsive 90% of the time!). One time I tried shutting down/restarting NT -- the system hung in the power up sequence! I had to power cycle to return the system to operation. Is this a familiar problem to anyone? Any suggestions (other than avoid Media Player!)? Thanks, Bob

Was this problem present prior to installing SP3?
What type of media files are you attempting to run with media player
(audio, video, etc.)?

Yes, I've had this problem as long as I've had the system
(about 5 months).

Question:
Have you tried loading the current SB drivers from the SB web site? It
may be that the drivers are causing the problem.
We'll see if we can put together a system with the SB.

glen
