| | Likewise my Celebris hangs when it is in power management too long. In my
case the bios is 1.03, the os is Windows 95 4.00.950a. I have had to
disable the power down features in the bios power management section, or
else the machine is hung every morning.
By hung I mean that the screen is dark and will not relight with the
keyboard or the mouse. The only recovery that seems to work is to recycle
the Celebris power switch.
This behavior held across a mother board replacement (the floppy controller
failed). I take this as a good indication that this is not a unique
motherboard problem with a small sample of machines.
With the bios power management turned off, and the disk spinning all the time
the system appears to be fine.

| | Bruce you and the rest of us have seen this problem as well. I have
had my hang so many times enabled, it corrupted my registry. So I
shut the darn thing off rather than fight the power management issue.

| 7351.3 | Time for "Official" problem report | STAR::JACOBI | Paul A. Jacobi - OpenVMS Development | Wed Mar 05 1997 09:43 | 26 |

I have been using a new Celebris GL 6200 (tower) with Windows95 and a
    21" monitor (PCXAV-WZ) @ 1600x1200 75Hz. Since there was no .INF file
included with this monitor, I have selected MGA Monitor "Diamond Pro
    21TX - Millennium"
With power management enabled in the BIOS and in display properties,
the system appears to power down correctly. About half the time, it
wakes up correctly. However, sometimes, the system appears to wake up
with disk disk activity and a brief resync of the monitor, but then the
monitor looses sync and the system appears to be hung with a black
screen. The only way to recover is to power cycle the system.
Phoenix BIOS revision is 4.05. Celebris BIOS revision is 1.04. Are
    there any later revisions available?
MGA PowerDesk Version is 3.14.028. I know that there are later
revision available from Matrox WWW site, but are they compatible with
    OEM version of MGA?
Since a number of people seem to be having similar problems with power
management, how can I file an official problem report?

| 7351.4 | use mga.mon file | HOTAIR::SLOMSKI |  | Wed Mar 05 1997 11:44 | 12 |
| | For the Matrox video for win95 on celebris GL, although not necessarily
qualified, you can use drivers off of matrox website
    http://www.matrox.com.

In addition , please replace the standard MGA.mon file with a custom
MGA.mon file for digital monitors . you can find this at
    http://pcbu.ako.dec.com

    VMCEGL19.EXE - Celebris GL 5xxx Matrox MGA.MON file for Win95 [25K
    10/02/96]

Then report back results (or email me hotair::slomski)

| | That's MGA.MON. By default it's in Program Files\Matrox MGA
PowerDesk\Mon (or at least it is on my system.)
