MRX V2.3-004
Customer could not start MRX after system reboot. Errors about
writing zeros to control block (implying bad checkpoint file) and
MRX$GATEWAY failing immeadiately with "invalid logical name".
It turns out that the root cause of these errors was a "bad"
MRX$INIT.DAT - although the file was okay so far as RMS
was concerned ($ANAL/RMS showed no errors) none of the parameters
had any values! When a version of this file was restored from
backup MRX started okay.
Customer now wants to know what could have caused MRX$INIT.DAT to
get into this state?
Any ideas?

Did you check the dates on the 'bad' file?
Sounds like someone created a new/empty one.
