Reference Note 6785 regarding various problems printing from Windows
NT, I have a customer experiencing similar problems with overlapping
characters printing to LPS17s from NT.
Can someone tell me if there were any answers to that Note?
If not, can you suggest reasons for the overlapping character syndrome?

If I remember my terminology correctly, the customer is using, for one
reason or another, a fixed-spaced font where a variable spaced should
be used. I believe this causes the character spacing to be squished.
Exactly how is the document being created and how are fonts being
selected??

What font is being used in the printout? If it is Courier, then this is likely a case where the font specified in the PS file is not available in the printer and Courier is being substituted. As Jeff notes, Courier is a fixed-width font, and the fixed width of its characters is fairly wide. The character placements planned in the document would normally be for narrower characters, so the expected result would be overlapping characters. - tom] | |||||
