Can someone tell me for lps17/600 printer, the feature for
automatic failover from upper tray to lcit and vice versa,
does it need to be manually set, or it comes by default ?
The reason I ask, one of my customer, that automatic failover
from upper tray to lower tray does not function anymore, and
it just stay on current tray . And I tested on my lpa17 here,
I do not see the same problem .

Stanley,
The automatic tray failover is enabled in the printers defaults
file. Edit the file LPS$SUPPORT:LPSDEFAULTS.'node_name_of_printer'. In
the postscript level2 section is option called trayswitch, notice:
isLPS17
{
/OutputType (Top) % Default output tray.
% Top = top output tray
% Side = side output tray (for
selecting
% output stacker or face-up
tray)
/TraySwitch true % Controls input tray failover.
% false = disable
% true = enable
Most likely the customer had been using the upper tray for special
forms and disables trayswitch. Just change "false" to "true" in the
file. Then using priviledged mode in the LPS$CONSOLE, enter the
reconfig command. This will reload the defaults file, or just reboot
the printer.
