I am experimenting some error messages that are generated after
upgraded to Celebris XL's 5133. I have also insert this note on
    Sutra::europc but without success.

    Celebris XL 5133/256kb/16Mb/540MBscsi
    Bios 2.04
    S3928 or S3864
    DE203 NIC or DE405 NIC
    5 Pc's involved
    Windows 95 400.950.a / Service pack 1
    Office 95
    Internet explorer 3.01

-DECPC xl 433 is upgraded to Celebris XL 5133
-Before the upgrade no problems, after upgrade intermittent problems

-Pc randomly pops of with the blue RIP screen during Internet
    	     use
-Pc locks up totally while leaving the screen saver mode (The
mouse pointer can still move at this stage, and resets ussually
afetr a while by it self)
-Pc intermittently resets without warning while working in
             applications

     What I have tried:

            - Replaced all hardware; no solution
            - Reload Win95, (reinstall, and installation from scratch);no
              solution
            - change BIOS setup;no solution
            - change network card DE205 for DE405; no solution
            - load the latest drivers for the VC and NIC; no solution
            - add additional 32mb memory; Pc is stable

16Mb should be OK, what do you think?

Also, hereafter the error message I occured sometimes.
A fatal error exception 0E has occured at 0028:C0023D7E VFAT (01)+00004EEA
      Current application will be terminated

      <<< I press return >>>

A fatal error exception 0D has occured at 16E7:17DF0909
      Current application will be terminated

      <<< I press return >>>

And after this the PC hang. The only way to restart the PC is to

| > - Replaced all hardware; no solution Did this include memory? > - add additional 32mb memory; Pc is stable This makes me think of a memory problem even more. I've seen these random errors more than once on different systems, and most of the times it's a problem with memory, either bad or non-compatible. Replace the original memory by known good memory recommended for this PC. Jur. | |||||

| Jur,

I checked the memory with PC care and Amidiag product and for both
    the memory is OK.
If the memory for all my pc is bad, why not to face this problem before
    the upgrade???

    Thanks, Thierry

| The VFAT exception might point to a corrupted disk volume. Did you
ScanDisk all your disks? How many/what kind of disks do you have
    connected?

| > I checked the memory with PC care and Amidiag product and for both > the memory is OK. That does not tell me anything. I've seen diagnostics run okay far too many times when there was still a memory problem which only came out in the real world. Can you borrow some other memory to check it out? > If the memory for all my pc is bad, why not to face this problem before > the upgrade??? I does not have to be bad memory, but a combination of memory/motherboard which won't work. Jur. | |||||
