    I don't know what the file is for, but why don't you move the file for
    a while and see if anything unexpected happens.
    
    You can use:
    attrib -r -s -h KGB.TAF
    
    Then rename it and/or move it.

I appreciate your reply!  Good to hear from you again!
I did as you suggested (GOOD SUGGESTION!) and things are 
still stable.
I also checked the file contents with a hex editor.  The 
file is relatively small and the only thing in the file is
the word "lockmgr".  The first line of the file reads:
000000006C6F636B6D67720000000000
Anyway, I'll keep and eye on C:\WINDOWS\TEMP during the day
and see if this boy pops up.

|  | I don't want to alarm anyone since I'm not sure about this, but wasn't there a
virus file named KGB?  I don't remember anything about it other than the name.
Of course, it can never hurt to run a good virus scan on your system.
