Hi !

My customer is running HP Open view to monitor his network. He is getting
these errors
on his ULTRIX V4.4. in syslog :

Mar  1 20:01:00 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in snmpdecipher, code -54
Mar  1 20:01:06 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in snmpdecipher, code -54
Mar  1 20:01:12 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in proc_snmp_msg, code -4
Mar  1 22:16:10 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in snmpdecipher, code -54
Mar  1 22:16:22 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in proc_snmp_msg, code -4
Mar  2 09:37:50 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in snmpdecipher, code -54
Mar  2 09:38:02 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in proc_snmp_msg, code -4
Mar  2 22:53:35 sequoia 350 snmpd: snmpin: error in snmpdecipher, code -54

Can anybody give some explanation? I have found some notes on the code error
4,
but there is nothing about the error 54.

Will appreciate any comment.

	If the -54 is the negative representation of an errno value,
	then it is ECONNRESET, Connection reset by peer.  I found this
	by:

		grep 54 /usr/include/errno.h

	on an ULTRIX V4.4 system.  See the errno(2) manual page for
	a description.  Beyond that I haven't a clue.

Alan, thanks for your hint. It seems reasonable to have few errors a day
of this kind.

I'll monitor it, and if anything else will happen, I will update this  note.
