The system manager upgraded the system and this was unknown to me... The Motif VERSION 1.2-3 with patches crashed the application often... After Upgradeing to verion 1.2-4 with patches and reinstalling the version I had the crashes ceased... I threrfore assume that the new version is being built on Motif 1.2-4 with patches and not 1.2-3 as previously stted in this notes file... | |||||

The kit I have installed in dated 28-FEB-1997 18:29:35.00 with ECP version of
image file identification: "ECP V4.0-01"
I am creating the MERG from the CPD data and I have to modify the model because
all of the RZ29 disks show up as RZ28 disks... I also have to add the FDDI because
the FDDI devices are not collected the PSDC... I am using a very simple data set of
five classes DETACH, BATCH, INTERACTIVE, NETWORK, and OTHER... This is a BRS cluster
with a lot of loads. I got one model to build, however, the CI load was far off from
the DECPS data...
Now I am aware that the customer forms and breaks RAID and SHADOW sets often. Is this
a condition that would corrupt the MERG files?
Is thier a limit to the SIZE of the MERG files. I have found MERG files as large as
16,000 blocks for a 1/2 hour sample period. This customer wants to model thier own
site, however, they have requested aid to understand and build some initial models. At
the present time I have had little success and I am confused as to why the customer
cannot build, and why I cannot build models using ECP 4.0... I have been using the
capacity planner for years and I initially trained on the character cell version.
Has a change occured that makes ECP unstable? I have noticed that the KITs are not
available. Is the product still viable? Should I suggest an alternative to the Customer?
