4281.0. "No access to Print Shares from NT 4.0" by PEARS::KARNBAUM () Mon May 05 1997 05:23
    hi,

    i have a customer, having problems printing from a NT 4.0 AXP
    Workstation to a PW V5.0E VMS Print Share.
    The Printer is defined as network printer so the connection is
    made during printing. He gets error message incorrect password
    or username, although he is successfully connected with his file
    shares on the same machine. Also he is seen as correct user within
    "$ net session" and the permissions for the print share are okay for
    this user, who even belongs to the 'admin' group.
    I checked for expired VMS mapped accounts, corrected all disuser and
    expired VMS accounts (pwrk$guest, pwrk$default, VMS mapped user
    account) without success. Security is Lanman only and there are no
    entries in $ net error or $admin/analyze.
    Also the Print Shares are working for the same user from WIN95 and
    other PW PCs, its only happening with NT 4.0 Workstations.
    If the user connects with
    $ net use LPT1: \\server\printsharename
    everything is okay, so it seems to be something on the NT Server, i
    have to check

    any hints ?

    thanks

	Have you installed the latest NT4.0 service pak ?
	It's now SP3.
	It contains many fixes to print bugs.
	See:
  http://www.microsoft.com/NTServerSupport/Content/ServicePacks/Default.htm
	Also find the latest driver for the printer you are using.
