Hi,
I'm installing 2 Alphaserver 2000 running Digital Unix 4.0a with
LSM & Advfs. I've already install the subset of Advfs from the
associate product 4.0a cd #2 (AFA401). I also installed the
advfs-utilities license & did a netsetup.
But when I issue this command 'dtadvfs &', I got a pid then a #
prompt reapply. After that nothing happen. But there is no error
messages at all. This problem also happened the other system.
Then I did a 'ps -ef|grep 'xxx'. xxx -- pid of advfs gui, the
process wasn't there. I also checked the syslod.dated & messages
files, I didn't see any error.
What should I do next? For your information, I still haven't
install any patches yet.
Thanks,
SMF

Look in /var/opt/dtadvfs/ for a log file. I've forgotten exactly where it gets placed, and I can't look it up on the current system. Also, try running it from csh. That at least will tell you when a background job has exited, which sh won't. My first guess is an xhost or display problem. --Ken | |||||

Hi,
Thank for your reply. You are right, it is a display problem. I
made a mistake, I forgot to configure the system using ECU. The current
type of configuration is using a standard VGA driver. After
I installed the drive & rebuild the kernel, everything is working fine.
Thanks,
