    	I noticed that the HD store is offering $1000 (that's one THOUSAND,
    folks!) rebate on any and all Buell's sold.
    I haven't stopped in to see if there were many *real* HD's still on the 
    floor yet, but there sure are a lot of guys in leather/chains/hair/tats
    riding riceburners around. I suppose the're just using them until the
    factory finishes their orders. I'll do another survey on May 3 when we
    have the annual Motorcycle Awareness Ride to the capitol.
    	Oh, yeah, the kid's clothes and HD dolls at the shop are just
    cunning! 

    My humble opinion is that if I have $9K+ to spend on a V-Twin sport
    bike I'd probably pick the VTR1000 or TL1000.  As an ex Harley owner I
    did give the Buell consideration but the price/performance just wasn't
    there.  For 2K I can pick up a 10 year old Interceptor or Ninja that'll
    knock the sox off the Buell.  I did speak to an owner that was ready to
    trade in the Buell because his right leg was getting fried against the
    exhaust pipe.  The local HD dealer (American in Leominster) has ahd the
    Buell on the floor for months.  Just won't sell.

    Interesting about the right leg, Don.  When I mentioned that to the
    HD factory rep last year after a demo at Laconia, he seemed quite 
    surprised.  Thought I was keeping my leg too close.  Well, uh, yeah....

    Buell is very aware of this issue. One of their foremost promoters,
    Court Canfield, has some kind of fix for this which he has alluded too as
    a potential fix from the factory. The rides I took at Laconia fried my
    leg to a burnt on the outside but still a little red on the inside. :-)
