Here is an update to the way I see the current state of the relationship.
I am part of the clearVISN team and have been working the engineering
relationship with StonyBrook. I hope these answers address your concerns.

========================================================================
- is there a plan for a new version(after Intranetmanager 3.6)
Yes, clearVISN V2.0 will contain the equivalent of Intranet Manager
V3.7. In addition clearVISN will also include the WAN Services
Manager from Ascend(StonyBrook) which gives you more support around
Frame Relay, ISDN and X.25. Note that the WAN Services Manager
is packaged as a seperate application in clearVISN that is a
	complimentary product to Intranet Manager.
- is the agreement between Stonybrook and DEC now obsolete ?
No - the agreement is still valid.
- what is the future of OUR products(VNswitch, GIGAswitch) in RM ?
Note that for the most part Router Manager works off the standard
RFC mibs. It employs vendor specific MIBs to give you the extra
vendor features. So the name Router Manager has always been
somewhat misleading. You can take the currently shipping Router
Manager and point it against any device that supports standard MIBs
and get a subset of management support that would be available
for routers. Point it at any bridge or switch and see what I mean.
One of the reasons the decision was made to change the name
to Intranet Manager from Router Manager was because the application
supports more than routers. As part of the qualification testing,
Ascend(StonyBrook) tests their applications against a number of
Digital products besides routers - including the VNswitches and
GIGAswitches (though support for the GIGAswitch/FDDI will be more
	than the GIGAswitch/ATM).
- who is developing new versions, Ascend or Digital, or both ?
The majority of the development for these applications is
done by Ascend(StonyBrook). We work with them for Digital
	specific support.
- what about CISCO products support in future releases of RM ?
The applications we get from Ascend(Stonybrook) contain the full
function support for other vendors that Ascend(Stonybrook) ships
themselves. They do not pull out function support for other
vendors in their applications that we put in clearVISN.
Is there a specific CISCO product you are thinking about?
