This is a known problem and is caused by the large size of the Netview
GetRequest. The size of the GetRequest is such that the GetResponse would
be >1500 bytes. The correct behavior (RFC1157) is for the EF to reply
with an error status of tooBig and an error index of 0.

A work around is to limit the number of MIB objects in a Netview
GetRequest. Netview does provide a way to limit the number of mib
objects in a single GetRequest. The procedure to do this is -
        - Stop snmpCollect
        - Modify usr/OV/conf/ovsuf so that the line that begins with
"0:snmpCollect:" includes the -m qaulifier which specifies the
maximum number of mib objects in each request
                0:snmpCollect:/usr/OV/bin/snmpCollect:OVs_YES_START:nvsecd,trapd,
                ovwdb,ovtopmd:-m16:OVs_WELL_BEHAVED:120:
(this example specifies a max of 16 objects)
        - Start snmpCollect

    POLYCENTER for the trees.

| 3361.5 | Polycenter was an octopus | PTOJJD::DANZAK | Pittsburgher  | Sat Mar 16 1996 07:38 | 9 |
| | Actually "Polycenter" marketing came up with an octopus as a marketing
campaign. I understood from talking to the consultant who was at one
company who was using MCC (one of our attempts at network management)
that about two years ago when we were in consolidate and cancel mode
with products - every time that we cancelled a product the company had
another arm cut off of their large octopus poster.

I think that eventually he was sort of stubby....
