Hi,
I have a customer who connected a DELNI (old style) to the AUI port of
a DECrepeater 90FS. Since, he is experiencing lat sessions
disconnections and slow response time. The DECserver 200 are connected
on the DELNI. The repeater is connected in the 1-8 ports and the switch
is on LOCAL.
After reconfiguring the network to Thinwire (thinwire on the side
of the repeater) and AUI/Thinwire transceiver on the DECserver 200, the
performance is OK and no LAT sessions get disconnected.
Any ideas? Yves, MCS.

This is the way its supposed to not work:-).
Rule Number 1 of DELNI's
Never plug a repeater into a DELNI, but if you do make absolutely
sure that the DELNI is NOT in LOCAL mode, and that the (device, loopback)
on the Global port has heartbeat disabled and that if the device on the
Global port is a H4005 that the backbone segment is no longer than
300 meters and in some rulebooks that the backbone segment is not
repeated to another backbone (10Base5) segment.
