| | Hello.

It sounds like a quick trip to the OPEN DECconnect Applications Guide
    is required for this project.

You have nicely described the physical cable, (40 lines of 4-pair) but
you have not described the USER requirements for the building.

The DECrepeater 90T is an eight-port repeater, which will service up to
eight offices, (within a 90 meter radius of the repeater) of high speed
10BaseT Ethernet PC's, or other 10Meg device (such as a HP Jetdirect,
or Alpha File server). The DECserver 90TL will service up to 8 (eight)
asynchronous ports (either printers or video terminals)

You must look up the requirements of this customer more
specificaly, and read the sections of OPEN DECconnect Applications
Guide which gives you very helpful lists of required hardware for
applications such as yours. The catalog includes the jumpers, and
line cords, and the exact cabling needs for the customer. You will
need MORE than just the HUB and modules (line cords, NIC cards,
passive adapters, fiber jumpers etc.) so the exact bill of materials
cannot be determined through a Notes Conference.

I would suggest that you contact your local Network Services people,
and ask them to assist you. We are available for a quite reasonable
fee, or if your customer does not wish to pay, you can call
1-800-DEC-SALE, and they can help you more specifically. It sounds
like you know the hardware you need, but the precise quantity and
supporting cabling still needs to be determined.

| | The OPEN DECconnect Applications Guide is available through LOS, see
    note NETCAD::OPEN_DECCONNECT entry 44.*.

I don't think that it's online, but it might be. I always order 10 to
20 of them, and give them to MIS and NETWORK managers at my customer
sites. These are considered Bibles by the network physical layer
people. There is a great deal of information available here.
