| | Speculation on my part, but it sounds like an old HUB in need
of stiffeners. Sounds like some kind of intermittent backplane
    connectivity.

| | Herewith the rev level of the Hub reported via the serial port:
The serial number is obscured by equipment mounted in the Cabinet above
    the Hub.

    Hardware rev f
    RO=V1.1.6
    SW=4.0.4

    Any ideas gratefully received!

The info you've provided is related to the MAM and has no relationship
to the Hardware. As Bob said, the problem sounds like a stiffener
issue so you need to check the HW rev. The mounting bracket usually
obscures the serial # but the HW rev should be visible.
How long has this DEChub 900 been in service?

| | Bill,

The DEChub is (hopefully) new. We've had it since August this year, and
I guess the DECgroup in the US ( VIIS in SHR) built the cab in July.

I will find the hardware rev i'll dismantle the cab! What rev is good?

    regards,
    Keith

| | Well that serial number rules out the need for the stiffeners
ECO to fix the pin wipe problem seen on older hubs. The stiffeners
fix was implemented on DMHUB-MBs with revision of A04 and higher, and
DMHUB-MAs with revision of A03 and Higher. A AS5XXXXXXX serial number
    should have this ECO.
If Keith is willing to experiment, it might be useful to see what
happens if the Concentrator 900MX is installed in slot 7 or 8 and
the PEswitches installed in the lower numbered slots. I'd also
be curious to know if any errors are written to the PEswitch error log.

| | There is a new pin wipe fix that should be installed on this DMHUB.
The problem affects FDDI connected modules in slots 7&8.

DMHUB's coming out of manufacturing have the fix but the official fix
kit for existing DMHUBs is not available as yet.

If you send me (NPSS::WADE) your mailing address I'll send you the kit and
installation instructions so you can get the customer up and running.

    Bill,

Can you tell me more about this problem ... I have large FDDI
customers who puts 6-7 FDDI devices per hub ... I have'nt run into this
problem yet but would like to better understand it.

Within the next couple of weeks a blitz will be sent out describing the
problem and containing the part number for a "DEChub 900 MultiSwitch Pin
    Wipe Upgrade Kit".
