    An article in Communications Week, Sept. 28, 1995, pg. 50, VLANS What
    it will take to reach reality indicates:
    
    "Digital ..., company recently announced routing enhancements for its
    DECswitch 900, as well as a family of branch-office and central-site
    routers. ... The upgrade to the DECswitch 900 brings the product in
    line with the new architecture, enabling it to route between LANs."

    "... Switches and routers will typically need new software.  DEC, for
    example, is offering a software upgrade to manage routing between
    high-speed switched connections with VLANs.  Such upgrades are not
    inexpensive, costing $1,500 of IP routing and $3,000 for multiprotocol

	Bill, there have been a couple of issues of NETCOM News (published by the Network Products Group) which have highlighted the firmware upgrades to the DECswitch 900EF & EE, and also other articles announcing the enVISN roll-out. The July-August 1995 vol-II no.4 of NETCOM News has articles on the DECswitch 900EE & EF Routing upgrades. Further back in the spring/summer the May-June vol-II no.3 NETCOM News highlights the enVISN announcement made on April 24, 95. You could probably contact the editor-in-chief of NETCOM News Stephanie Bourque (GMAJOR::BOURQUE), and request to be put on the subscription. Bob
