    NAC:NIPG:[MANAGE.RMON]OSF_V33.PAK

We are doing some last minute debugging in the LMF code, because we
changed the product name from PROBEwatch for OSF to Digital Unix. So if
the one you copy doesn't work, check again on the next day or two.

| | Hi

I copied and installed the PAK in .1. I also copied and installed the
V3.3 kit. When I try to start PROBEwatch, I'm seeing:

    idgosf.hlo.dec.com# source .netscout
    idgosf.hlo.dec.com# bin/nsman
ERROR: This application will not run successfully unless it is used
on the processor(s) on which it is licensed. The licensed processor(s)
is the one(s) on which the product requiring the PROBEWATCH-FOR-OSF PAK
will execute. A PROBEWATCH-FOR-OSF PAK must be registered in the
    License
Database and activated in the kernel cache before this application will
run. Refer to the installation guide for the product requiring the
PROBEWATCH-FOR-OSF PAK for license database PAK registration
    instructions.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

| | Re .2, where did you get your 'ok' license from? VTX PAK does not have
a PROBEWATCH for Digital UNIX PAK, nor do the PAKs I've seen mentioned
    here work with V3.3.

    Thanks!

| | Sorry to whine, but has any in PROBEwatch Engineering actually tried
    these steps:

    1. I copied and added NAC::NIPG:[MANAGE.RMON]OSF_V33.PAK to my system:

idgosf.hlo.dec.com# lmf list full for PROBEWATCH-DIGITAL-UNIX

    2. Then, I copied the kit noted in 2734.1, un-tar'd and installed it.
    The installation went just dandy:

Configuring "PROBEwatch for Digital UNIX AXP V3.3" (PRBWTCH330)

      Installation Configuration for
(PRBWTCH330) PROBEwatch for Digital UNIX AXP V3.3

PROBEwatch from POLYCENTER Manager on Netview for
DEC OSF/1 AXP on this system [y/n]? y

THERE ARE NO MORE QUESTIONS TO ANSWER.

The installation will continue automatically from this point.

So, it looks like I've copied the latest kit and the latest PAK. But
the kit is still expecting the old PAK.

    What gives?

| | Hello Terry,

Sounds like a problem I had when I unpacked the TAR file....

In your working directory (Where you have your TAR file) and the
directory below, delete all other files except for the Probewatch
V3.3.1 tar kit. Then re-do the unpack of your TAR file and re-install.

This should work. as your have some files from the OSF (and UNIX)
    kit laying around.

    Good Luck,

    Tom

I did this. I also tried a setld -d, followed by deleting all of the
files in /usr/kits/PROBEwatch. When I reinstall, PROBEwatch tried to
    find a PROBEWATCH-FOR-OSF PAK.

| | I tried the same scenario, V3331 kit, the new and improved license
(PROBEWATCH-DIGITAL-UNIX installed). It looks like the setld -v PRBWTCH331
IVP still barfs, yet running a /usr/kit/PROBEwatch/bin/dvadmin
seems to not complain about the absence of a license.

so it looks like the kit works OK, but the license (so far as the IVP
    goes) is messed up.

Is this what they call job security?
