I have a customer which needs to connect 2 sites via single mode fiber.
    I am recommending a DH900, a DECconcentrator 900MX configured with 2
SMF PMDs, 4 MMF PMDs and a DECswitch 900EF.

I need to check my logic. Since my SMF connections will be on the front
panel acting as the A-B ring connections, do I need to hook up my
DECswitch 900EF from its front panel using the B-port to the
DECconcentrator 900MX M-port (don't see a need to dual home).

In order for me to make the 900EF participate in the ring in the
backplane, I would need TWO DECconcentrator 900MX each with a SMF
connection (A on first, B on second) to get the 900EF into the ring? Or
does the new firmware give me a capability I don't understand or know
    about?

| Take a look at the FDDI configuration guide, in note #2340.
    Specifically diagram #15.

With the new firmware you can configure the concentrator as AB out the
front and M out the back, then configure the switch as MS out the back.
Your concentrator will act as a root and the switch is treed off the
    ring.
