Note 1188.0 packet probe rmon ? No replies
CGOOA::KUHNEN 20 lines 10-APR-1995 13:04
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do I collect data from a packet probe into Polycenter Netview.
If I collect RMON data from a Cabletron hub there is always a
consistent instance from which the data may be accessed. I find with
the packet probe that the instance will change depending on what you
are looking at with the probe.
For example if you look at just the default probe instance, the
instance will change each time that you restart collecting on this
instance. Is there a way to start RMON on certain data and specify the
instance into which this data will be collected.
Cross posted in hub_mgmt
Thanks

| 2183.1 | Set up probe for generic RMON | NAC::FORREST | Fri Apr 21 1995 16:39 | 16 | |
Harry, which version of DECpacketprobe firmware are you running? V1.0
is still shipping, but V2.1 and V2.3 are now available on the network.
The Release Notes for V2.1 describe how to set up the DECpacketprobe to
work with RMON applications other than PROBEwatch. Maybe this is the
problem.
Basically, go into command line mode on the probe console and
1. Set Agent_options mib_checks on
2. Set Agent_options mib_defaults on
3. Set Agent_options default_groups on
