    Thank you.
    I've found a MARCH 94' table describing TRAPS/AGENTS... But NO
    related-firwmre VERSIONS...
    Have you got any information about the last FIRMWAREs versions
    (that are available currently on EASYnet and that I've copied recently)
    and TRAPs current capabilities ?

    Regards,
    Renato

| 2071.4 | And...... | NETCAD::GALLAGHER |  | Tue Mar 07 1995 15:34 | 14 |
|  | A couple more things:
1)  Please elaborate on:
> Because DEChub & modules related SNMP agents are very poor in term of
> asynchronous SNMP traps sending capabilities, my Customers are often
> disappointed when they discover the "reality" of SNMP worlds...
2) Be aware that RMON Alarms and Events will be on the next version of
    the Hub Manager (MAM). Using RMON A&E you can set up 20 alarms which
    cause traps to be sent. HUBwatch will support RMON A&E in a future
    release (i.e. not the next one).

| 2071.5 | Will RMON solve everything ? | KETJE::VANDENBERG_R |  | Wed Mar 08 1995 07:59 | 12 |
| | This is confusing me, doesn't it means that through RMON, a manager will
be warned that a power supply went down, that one line of is bridge is in broken
state, that one is change from backup to forwarding that a backup repeater is
now in operation, that a security intrusion occurs on a port etc, etc.. ?

You're only a little confused.
Yes, RMON Alarms and Events can solve all the issues you mention.
We're planning on putting RMON A&E on many of our products. (Sorry, I won't
give you a list. Sorry, I won't provide schedule information.)

RMON on the MAM will solve some things, like the power supply insertion/
removal. RMON Alarms and Events will be on the next version of the MAM.
When we put RMON A&E on the bridges, the bridges can alarm when a line on
the bridge is broken or when a spanning tree change occurs.
When we put RMON A&E on repeaters, the repeaters can alarm when a redundant
link kicks in or when a security intrusion occurs on a port.
etc, etc....
Right now, the objects being monitored using RMON A&E must be contained
within the MIB of the product. In other words, the MAM's RMON A&E is
not capable of polling bridges for spanning tree changes.

| 2071.7 | Warm Start traps for the DECagent 90 | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Thu Mar 09 1995 07:59 | 5 |
| | Just for the sake of completeness, the DECagent 90 also issues Warm Start traps
on a soft reset (e.g. from HUBwatch or the console, current settings reset or
factory reset). Cold Start traps are issued only at power-up.
