2030.0. "Setup redirect to DECserver 900TM fails." by CGOS01::DMARLOWE (Have you been HUBbed lately?) Mon Feb 20 1995 14:32

    I have a very interesting HUB/DECserver 900TM problem.
    
    I have tried several slots so there is something more to this.  Go
    into the HUB setup port.  Redirect to a slot that contains a DECserver
    900TM.  The screen goes something like this:
    
    Console redirected to 8:  Network Access SW 1.4 for DS900TM BL91-32 RW
    
    Attempting connection [Ctrl/C to abort]...
    
    Module not responding!  Connection closed!
    
    Press return for main menu.
    
    
    Prior to this the HUB LCD displays for the DS900TM:
    
    Network Access Software
    V1.4 for DS900TM
    
    
    After attempting a redirect the HUB LCD displays for the DS900TM:
    
    Network Access Software
    unknown
    
    I have updated the DS 900 to NAS V1.5 but get the same results.  If I
    use a DS 900TM terminal port to set an IP address then at least I can
    manage the server thru HUBWATCH.  The redirect function still fails. 
    The hub is at V3.1.
    
    Anyone seen this?

    You cannot redirect to a DECserver.  They also do not provide
    IP services for the hub.

    We've also had folks configure hubs with ALL DECservers...then find
    out...whoops..not only no IP but no connection to the network....
    
    Ah, the benefits of a technology indepent hub....

    We have put both redirected console and IP services on the list of
    candidate features for the V1.6 release of DNAS.  Once the resource and
    schedule planning are completed, we'll have a better idea of how these
    feature will fare.  For now, we can say its on the "to do" list.

    It there documneted that DECserver will not support the IP service for
    Hubmanager ? 
    
    One of my customer having problem when change LAN configuration serverl
    times will make the DECserver unmanagerable by HUBwatch V4.0 . It
    require a reboot the DECserver's inorder to gain manage again.
