I have a PC with Hubwatch 3.1 installed on it. Is it possible to
connect the PC to a twisted pair on a DECswitch 900EF installed in
a DEChub 900 to get hubwatch access ?
I did notice that there is no default LAN connection made when the
DECswitch module is installed in the hub. I had to gain HUBwatch access to
the hub via a DECrepeater 900TS. Once in, I can configure one of the
DECswitch's bridge ports to the Thinwire LAN, but it still doesn't allow
me hubwatch access from the PC via a twisted pair port on the DECswitch.
FWIW - I can ping the DECswitch's IP address once I connected one
it's bridge ports to the default thinwire LAN.
Also, is there something special I have to do to define the icon
for the DECswitch 900EF when looking at the LAN interconnect view ? If
I select the DECswitch under the LAN view and then select configure, it
knows that the module is a DECswitch 900EF ? It just doesn't show any
icon for it.
Any help appreciated.......Ray

Check notes 1728.10, and 1728.14, you may be experiencing the same
thing mentioned there.

re:-1
Thanks. That looks like the same thing I'm seeing. My big problem
now is whether I can get hubwatch to see the hub via a twisted pair
port on the DECswitch. This is on a customer order where hubwatch was
specified as coming into the DECswitch and the only other modules in
the hub are DECconcentrator 900MX's.

| 1814.3 | Use a FLIP cable. | MSDOA::REED | John Reed @CBO, (803) 781-9571 NIS Networker | Thu Dec 22 1994 18:55 | 11 |
I would ensure that you are using a FLip Cable. If your 10BaseT cable
works in a repeater module, then it will NOT WORK in the bridge module.
The bridge has a "NODE" connector, not a "repeater connector (which
includes the flip, and is marked with X)"
Using the BN24F-xx cable, I can connect my 425sl Laptop to a
DECbridge900mx module, and manage the hub using HUBwatch v3.1. You
should be able to do the same thing.
