| Yes you can connect a DECrepeater 900FP to a DEREN.
The DEREN fiber optic option module complies with the IEEE 802.3 FOIRL
(fiber optic inter-repeater link) standard. The DECrepeater 900FP
complies with the IEEE 802.3 10Base-FL standard. The 10Base-FL standard
is backward compatible to and can interoperate with the FOIRL standard.
There is one caveat. The DEREN's DEPCI-AC fiber optic module has a
couple of DIP switches that select different idle modes (which I won't
go into here). Make sure the switches indicate IEEE mode and not DEC
dual idle mode when connecting the DEREN to a DECrepeater 900FP.
