Jack Forrest is interested in hearing from you folks if you think it would be nice/usefull/sell more products/etc if PROBEwatch capture data could be fed out into an IRIS compatible format, to allow use of the excellent decode capabilities in IRIS. If you have a view on this, mail NAC::FORREST For my 2c worth the answer was yes, definetly although customers might want PROBEwatch to provide good quality decode *for all protocols* as a native function. (TCP/IP is quite good already I feel) Cheers Tim

| Good idea. Shouldn't be too hard to do. BUT: IRIS is not a product and cannot be given to customers. Or are you trying to productize IRIS ? It's definitely production quality but somebody has to fund it. *Robert | |||||

| Well, you can view this a number of ways, * As a tool to allow us to perform LAN monitoring/diagnostic services, using IRIS with PROBEwatch output is an excellent addition to our portfolio * This *may* just spur someone to fund IRIS and productise it which is what a lot of us have been wanting for years. I personally would like to see the PROBE/PROBEwatch combo have this functionality native in the product. That is nice and clean, and simple to sell. Then I would like to the probe to be truly RMON compliant, which it doesn't appear to be today. Tim (a fan of both tools!) | |||||
