I just want to make sure I understand how our FDDI to Ethernet bridges
work.
If I have 2 systems and they are on different Ethernet segments on the
same bridge, does our product require that a packet which is sent
between these 2 system go over the FDDI or do they simply go from one
Ethernet port to the other Ethernet port within the bridge?
Also, if I have the same scenario, do any of the other Ethernet
segments ever seen that packet? I know it's a stupid question, but I'm
working at a site with competitors bridges and I seeing lots of
Ethernet traffic on a segment where it doesn't seem I should be. So, if
I recommend our bridges, I want to make sure how they work.

No. The packet is switched to only the port it has to go to, no
others.

No. Unless its a multicast or broadcast which must to out to all
ports.

Recommend ours. 8^) Are they bridges or repeaters? I don't think
ther are any bridges (cut thru or store and forward) that can move
as many packets as the DECswitch 900EF and not buckle under the
heaviest load.

Dave is right on all counts, and by all means recommend ours.
The DECswitch 900EF moves packets at wire speed.
