One of our customer is keen to have HUBwatch on an OpenVMS/AXP
platform. As Digital has no plans to bring this out as a product
he has decided to see if he can get it working by other means.
He has VEST's the code which seems to go thorugh with NO problems.
The only apparent problem is due to licencing. All the executables
are on the Alpha and ready to run, but the application will not start
due to a licencing error. This could be due to the Availability Table
Code or the lack of ALPHA in the Options. The VAX license was entered,
but does not seem to load into the license database.
As this is the only thing holding this up, is there any way of
generating a PAK for this purpose? Is there any other workaround to
by-pass the licensing check? Anything?
As this project is strategically important, it would be greatly
advantageous to us to try and make this work. After all, if it works,
why can't we test this configuration and even productise it?
Nader.

Nader,
We obviously have no pak for OpenVMS/AXP. What happens if you try
to use the OpenVMS VAX pak on AXP?
As far as productizing a VESTED image this is problematic. For one
thing I'm not sure if the on-line help would work. In addition, if
a problem is found that doesn't occur on OpenVMS VAX we probably
couldn't fix it. Finally, there are several other utilities/scripts
that go along with HUBwatch. Those would have to be verified. kitted
etc.
There is a survey going around now to determine the demand for
HUBwatch on OpenVMS/AXP. Contact Bill Seaver NAC::SEAVER for
more information.
Good luck with your customer.
Bob

Re: What happens when we try to use OpenVMS VAX PAK
The application bombs out with an error saying the license is not
loaded. The VAX license was entered per norm, but on querying the lmf
database, it does not show it as loaded. This could be due to the
Activity Table Code; Alpha does not have the same code as VAX, or the
Key Options requiring ALPHA to load the license into the database. What
is certain is that the license has not loaded due to the parameters in
the VAX license.
I desperately need this application to run on the Alpha, so any help in
trying to get it to run would be grately appreciated.
