| 833.1 | what is remote control of "secure" in a bridge? | NAC::FORREST |  | Thu Mar 17 1994 11:12 | 17 |

	> Learning / secure / off for the
	> DECbridge 90 / DECbridge 90FL
	You cannot disable learning in the DECbridge 90.
	I'm not sure what you mean by "secure".
	You can set the DECbridge 90 off by disabling the ports - if
	you disable the port through which your management packets go,
	then you will have a great deal of difficulty reenabling the
	bridge. So always disable the port on the far side from your
	management station.
	I'll let others answer for the DECbrouter and DECbridge 900.

| | For the DECbridge 900, you can disable learning on a port-by-port basis by
giving the bridge a list of acceptable MAC addresses and putting it into
Manual Mode.
What is "secure"?

| | The turning-off of learning is often referred to as the "secure"
    mode, since the bridge will not forward to or from any address
    on a port that is in this mode unless pre-configured by the user.
    In any case, it's a two-state switch.. "off" is no different than
    "secure".
