| 511.1 | Sorry, but I couldn't find it. | SLINK::HOOD | I'd rather be surfing | Sun Nov 21 1993 21:01 | 16 |
| | Well, I've just searched every HUBwatch (OpenVMS / ULTRIX) source file
    and could not find the word "stupid" anywhere. So, I also searched the
    image file and didn't find it there either. So, I tried the following
    two commands:
    		$ WATCH /AGENT /IP=16.6.6.6
    		$ WATCH /AGENT BOZO
    (The specified address, as far as I know, is bogus, and BOZO is not in
    my agents file.)
    In both cases, I got reasonable error messages.

    In fact, I couldn't even find anything resembling your error message.

    What exactly did you do to get this message?

| 511.2 | A longshot | CGOS01::DMARLOWE | dsk dsk dsk (tsk tsk tsk) | Mon Nov 22 1993 02:18 | 16 |
| | By any chance is a " SET MESSAGE APRILFOOL.EXE" (or something like
    that) done somewhere in SYLOGIN.COM or LOGIN.COM for an alternate
    error message handler. The version I got over the network does
    have some insults and they're not limited to just DCL. Anything
    that can give an error message can and does get routed through this.

    Some of the entries that are in this one are shown below:
FATDISPAC/ERROR <Fatal disk pack mount error, you pervert>
SIZ	<!UL is not the right size key, jerkface>/FAO=1
KEYINDEX	<key already in index you jerk>
FILALRACC	<file is already being accessed, you stupid gat!>

    Just a thought.

| 511.3 | Also try DECW$SYSTEM_DEFAULTS:HUB_MSG.MSF | SLINK::HOOD | I'd rather be surfing | Mon Nov 22 1993 12:15 | 2 |
| | Along the same lines, look at DECW$SYSTEM_DEFAULTS:HUB_MSG.MSF where most
of the messages HUBwatch generates are stored.

| 511.4 | Not HUBwatch... | GIDDAY::JEFFERY | Net Manager Alice Springs | Tue Nov 23 1993 01:52 | 8 |

    Well (red face..) I have found the culprit. One of our engineers had
    created a utility to monitor device errors. It is called (of course)
    "WATCH", and doesn't observe the social niceties. Apologies for the red
    herring.

    						Regards,
    							Roger.
