Hello,
We are selling DEFMR/DEFAR modules to a costumer that will use his
existent fiber cables 50/125nm. I have to answre him the following
questions :
- What will be the maximum lenght of cable ?
- What is the Optical Power Budget of these products ? (to calculate
the max number of splices/panels used)
Thanks in advance,
Carijo'

| 177.3 | 50 micron has 6 dB FDDI budget | NETCAD::KIRK | tis a gift to be simple | Fri Sep 30 1994 08:37 | 9 |
For FDDI products, 50/125 micron optical fibers will have 5 dB LESS
power budget than the 62.5/125 micron optical fibers. This is due to
the smaller core diameter and lower numerical aperture. Since the
ANSI PMD set a requirement for 11 dB budget for 62.5/125 fiber,
the 50/125 fiber will have a 6 dB optical power budget.
