    Bob,

How 'bout a little more info on that - such as (obviously
I don't know about Beckmeyer) the software... is it Atari code
intended for tape drives? How hard is it to find these types
of tape drives? Where should I look - Computer Shoper? I have
a BMS scsi controller for my seagate - think it might work?

    					Any & all thoughts welcomed,

    							Rich

yes, also very interested in that piece of software. Where to get it
(in Europe, Germany) and what options and features it has.

Bob, what is the name of that software from Beckmyer Development?
Is there any shop in Colorado Springs or Maynard where I can get
it (have the chance to be there in January).

    Tnx

The software came from a place in California. You can call them
	I have the number.
		Beckemeyer Development
		PO Box 21575
		Oakland, CA 94620
		(510) 530-9637
The software uses a nice GEM interface. It is simple to use but
that also means not to many features. It will backup and restore
individual files but it won't do incrementals. At least I haven't
figured out how to get it to do them. It uses drop down menus.
There are two programs, one for backup and one for restore. You
can also scan a tape to see what is on it.
As far as I can tell it will work with any standard SCSI tape drive.
	I have tried it with a Tanberg 6610 150mb drive and a Cipher 320mb
drive. Both worked just fine. The software seems to be set up to only
work with SCSI ID 4. At least that is the only address that I could get
to work and I didn't see any way to change it via menus.
I don't know if it will work with the BMS adapter. I have the ICD
which boasts "true" SCSI, whatever that means. All I did was get a
50 pin SCSI cable and plug it into the ICD adapter along with my
hard drive. It was really that easy.
Have to go now. Enjoy the Holidays...Bob
