    Hi,

    I'm just starting to get into MIDIing with my Atari and don't of
    that exact program but there a lot of low-priced MIDI sequecers
    or players for the Atari. I use Dr. T's MIDI Recording Studio as
    my recorder and Activision's Music program as a player. It depends
    on what you want use the machine for. The player type programs
    typically allow entering notes on a scale with the mouse while
    low-priced recorders listen to the selected MIDI channel, you can
    usually enter notes but it is more of a pain.

    Not exactly an answer to your question...

  Hybrid Arts EZScore is a limited sequencer and scoring program for not much.
  (it is maybe 80 or 90 $ which isn't that much compared to 300-500 for
   SST, Pro24, MasterTracks Pro, and 600 list for Notator). I have never tried
  it but I did read the manual (4 minutes worth, they were closing) last
  Saturday at Lechmere and it seemed to be an OK product. Dr Ts the Copyist
  is also a somewhat relatively (you know what I mean) cheap scoring program
  ( It think, don't know a price).

|  |     I use EZ-Track-Plus together with EZ-Score. Both are reasonably
    good for the price, however, as always it depends on your individual
    requirements.
    My main requirement is to edit (bits of) music using notation, as
    opposed to step-time, punch-in, etc. The combination of EZ-Track+
    and EZ-Score does NOT fulfil this. That is, it is possible to transfer
    music from EZ-Track into EZ-Score, but NOT vice-versa. This I
    discovered after buying EZ-Score. Arghhhh ! EZ-Score is not really
    for playing music - it is intended merely for score composition
    and printing. Bear this in mind if you intend to buy EZ-Score.
    EZ-Track-Plus is reliable, and you can do quite a lot with it, once
    you get the hang of the various features.
    To summarise, I reckon that I'm going to have to buy Pro-24 or C-Lab
    in order to get what I want. They seem to have it sown up. 450 quid
    for a piece of ST software ? Jeez !

| 277.4 | MIDI for SALE: PRO24, MT32, CASIO keyboard | KERNEL::BARTLEY |  | Thu Jun 08 1989 10:57 | 17 |
| | I weep! Buckets! But what must be must be. I have not had time
    since before Christmas to devote to MIDI music, so I want, or rather
    feel I ought, to sell my

    PRO24
    Casio CPS101 keyboard
    Roland MT32 synth.
    Cables

    I bought them all as a package several months before Christmas.
    I'd prefer to sell as a package, but will consider selling each
    item individually. I paid #865 for the package.

    I should add that I thoroughly enjoyed the stuff for the couple
    of months that I spent with it. No complaints at all.

| 277.5 | MIDI song sequences wanted | STKSMA::HALL | Take care of your MIDI | Thu Jul 27 1989 10:35 | 17 |
|  |     Hi,

    Anyone out there who's got some free (PD) song sequenses playing
    over MIDI. Could be DEMO's, cover songs or what ever. Since I've
    only got PRO24 I suppose I need a tool to get the notes out over
    the MIDI port as well.

    If you're willing to help I could send some empty discs or you can
    upload the stuff for copying.

    I have to get new ideas creating music on the ST and one way could
    be listening to other peoples work even though I dont have the same
    set up and maybe need to do extensive editing to get it sound right.

| 277.6 | PD MIDI Players | VINO::BHAMILTON | Buzz Hamilton | Mon Jul 31 1989 12:13 | 19 |
| | Most of the PD MIDI 'song' files that I see are formatted in either
    Music Studio or EZ Track. I have uploaded an ARC file with three PD
    players that handle Music Studio format and one song file. It is in
    VINO::WINO:[BHAMILTON.PUBLIC]. The file was created with DCOPY. ARC on
    VMS seems to have a problem with it but VMSSWEEP seems to be able to
    work with it OK.

    Most of the MS song files that I have play fine through these players -
    the best seems to be version 1.2. Some song files only play well
    through the 'real' Music Studio.

    There are two PD MS songfile ARC files from the UMICH library in
    VINO::WINO:[BHAMILTON.UMICH] - they are SONGFILES.ARC and
    SNGFILES2.ARC. If you get the players and this still doesn't satify
    your needs, I can upload more MS songfiles.

    Be aware that you may need to use the editing features of the player to
    change the preset value for your keyboard.
