ST Replay is more than just a speech synthesizer, its an actual
sampler.If you have the hardware(Cartidge)and the software then
you can sample and playback at different speeds add effects(REVERB
ECHO e.t.c) at the touch of a button, also if you have a MIDI keyboard
then you can play the sample(s) through the keyboard.
If you purchase this amazing piece of software thenyou will amazed
with what it can do.

At the Atari show the other day, I saw and was so impressed I bought
the ELcheapo version of ST replay, "Master sound". It is designed and
sold by the same people who made replay 4. Its not as professional,
sound only plays thro the ST, not on hifi, and the frequency spectrum
is less, but it sounds as good as you could expect sound reconsituted
thro the sound chip to sound!!!
The hardware and software was 35 pounds. The kids (and I), have had
lots of fun with it. The Master sound software has a second control panel
with a Sequencer built in.
What you can do is firstly to record all your
samples from radio,tape mike or keyboard and save them to disk. You can
redit the smples and save little lumps of them. When you have enough
samples you can call the sequence menu and attach 18 sounds to the 18
keys on the number pad. (Any special characteristics are also attached,
loop or reverse). You then run the seq recorder, and key the various
sounds as desired, (including the 9-9-9-9-19 effects by tapping the
space bar. The sequence can then be saved to disk. There is a player
prog and a demo screen you can attach your masterpiece to for others to
enjoy (?).
Other features in the software are compress, cut, copy, (shift in
time), overlay, filter, spectrum analyser, scope, fadein and fade out,
and a very usefuyl one is a level control which can be set at which the
recording will start. (so you can set the trigger point to an aplitude
above the clicks and bumps of a recording start, and get a good sample
of what you want to record, by just pressing play on your tape
recorder, the sampler doesnt trigger to the output passes the
threshold. The only thing missing is the MIDI support that is present
on Replay 4.

All in all very good value for money, a highly recommended product.
