Hi,
Could someone comment on the advantages and disadvantages of Personal
Pascal and Prospero Pascal? A brief (and very vague) article
describing the new point releases of both products appeared in Current
Notes recently.
From what I've gleaned from advertisements, Prospero may be a more
complete package. However, Personal Pascal is less expensive and
seems to be touted as less intimidating. Personal Pascal and
Tackle Box ST together would cost as much as Prospero Pascal.
Thanks

I have personal pascal, and tackle box st. I do not have
prospero's pascal, nor do I have any knowlege of it. Here
is a bit of info on PP.
It generally speaking is pretty good, but has some drawbacks
They tried to make it very much like turbo pascal for the pc's
it does have some differences. I have only written one program
in it, a program to plot 3d functions. PP doesn't have the
standard gem calls, instead they give you routines to create
menus's, and stick entries in them, etc. One of the things I
don't like about PP is they use a 6 byte floating pt format and
lots of mults/divs takes a lot of time.
Tackle box st might be worth it if you don't have much in the
way of documentation for the st. The binder is about 4 inches thick
and contains lots of stuff, which can be found in the abacus books.
There may be some more stuff on PP in the old atari notes file.
