5088.0. "An Epitaph" by UPROAR::EVANSG (Gwyn Evans @ IME - Open DECtrade) Mon Dec 02 1991 03:42

Penny, our 6mth old kitten, was knocked down and killed in the street
just outside our house this morning. From what we could gather, she'd been
having a spat with another cat and ran across the road just as a motorbike
came by. As far as we could tell, she'd died instantly.

She'd always been very affectionate and at first, would sleep on our
pillows at night, buzzing away. She always followed us around, sitting on
a stool in the kitchen when we were in there, coming and sitting on
whatever I was reading when I read on the floor, or just coming up and
wanting to be held or sit on my lap when I was using the computer. As she
grew up a little, she moved to sleeping at the bottom of the bed but would
still wander up for a cuddle if she woke early. Other things I remember
about her is the way she'd occasionally come up under the quilt and curl
around my foot and settle there, but mainly the way that she loved being
stroked and the way she'd stretch and lift her tail and keep coming back
for more.

What seems so unfair is that she was so young and so friendly...

  Penny, we miss you.

Sincere sympathies from me and my crew. Her young life was
filled with love...and that is what you need to remember.

    So sorry...
