A friend of mine has a Burmese cat - approximately 8 years old-
who constantly throws his jaw out of joint. It happens when Pugley
yawns or eats. It seems that Pugsley panics when it happens but
eventually he works it back into place. This dysfunction has been
happening more frequently now - sometimes two or three times a
week. He has a vet appointment scheduled for Saturday but his
    owner is naturally very concerned.

Has anyone ever had - or heard of - this happening to a cat?

    Thanks,
    Pat

| I'd panic if this happened to me, too. I've heard of people having
easily dislocated joints (shoulder, usually). I have the dim
recollection that an operation can fix this, although what the
operation actually does (tightens muscles, maybe?) i dunno. Please
let us know how Pugsley is doing.

Never heard of a cat having it but lots of people do! Sounds like a
TMJ (temporal mandibular joint) problem. I cannot imagine how they
would treat a cat for it. Most people wear an appliance called a
splint to reposition the jaw and in extreme cases some need surgery.
Let us know what the vet says.

| Talking with our chiroprator recently he said more of the chiropractic
doctors are going into the treatment of animals. Knowing how great
I feel after Bruce works me over I can see an animal would benefit
it many cases. I wonder if this might be one of those cases?
