4538.0. "Kitty University???" by DELNI::JMCDONOUGH () Wed Apr 10 1991 10:42
Did anyone catch the bit this morning on ABC(I think anyway...) News
about the "Kitty College"? I just caught part of it, but it seems that
this is the place where cats are "trained" to act in commercials.
(Trained????? HAH!! WHO does the 'training'??? Must be someone with
some very powerful drugs--that the person first administers to the cats
and then takes a substantial portion themselves!!)

Anyway, there wer various pictures of EXTREMELY indignant cats
wearing all sorts of silly costumes...hats, dresses, little tuxedoes,
bathing suits...etc... NONE of thses cats looked the least bit pleased
    about this whole thing...

I was amazed also at the cat that the ABC Commentator was holding
when she came on to describe this "college"....the cat was an exact
double of my Luke....HUGE, long-haired, all black, looking like the
"Cat from Hell"......and extremely BALEFUL look on his face, a low,
rumbling growl constantly emanating from his throat, with periodic
wide-open, tooth-baring HISSSSS's being spat at anyone in general, and
those eyes with huge, round, black pupils... Yup!! That's my
Luke...right down to the personality!! I had to check to see that he
    hadn't been stolen!!

| | Boy, am I glad you added the word HUGE !!!!! Otherwise I would have
thought someone had stolen Black Thunder. Everything fits except the
    huge.

And they think they can *train* cats....... They haven't got my
babies to work with. They only do * what they want to do *, * where
they want to do it *, and only * when they want to do it *. They even
    have the dog trained.....

| | I saw a pretty neat act at Universal Studios a few years ago that
involved a cat. Pretty smart cat :^)

| | I saw it and in the beginning was not too impressed in that they were
doing all these humiliating things with them - i.e. dressing them in
baby clothes - numerous hats - etc.!

I broke up laughing (though) at the end when they showed a beautiful
cat attempting to 'speak' on cue...and instead started choking on a
    fur ball.

...like choking on spit when somebody asks you a question. ;=>

| | Do you remember those Japanese Kitty posters with the kittens
all dressed up in numerous outfits? The outfits were actually
stiff models that they placed the kittens in. They were none
    to happy about it, either.
But, the kittens used for the posters had a "fan club-waiting
list" to own them once they grew too old for "modeling".

| | I'm amazed the reporter had the guts to hold that black
cat, who was obviously promising to rend her into leeetle
    tiny pieces.
