| | I assume that you use litterboxes? Will the possibility
of having to add another to take the "overflow" cause a
problem? Will the increased cost to feed & care for another
be too much? Can you give three the love & attention you
gave two? If these questions are all answered in the positive
way, than space shouldn't be an issue.

    Good luck!

| | Sounds a lot like my apartment. I have two cats and if their
personalities were such that a third might work, I wouldn't hesitate
for an instant. The most important consideration for me would be
that the first two would accept a third. If you think they would,
    then go for it!

| | SUre, they'll accept one another. I currently have 5, and none are
littermates. The last was a big male who had been the neighborhood
"Cat-from-Hell", who was terrorizing neighborhood cats by fighting with
them to steal their food. He was in sad shape when we got him, but
after he was neutered and introduced to the house, he got along
famously with the others... In most cases with a new introduction ther
will be some growling and hissing, and some confrontations from 10 feet
apart...but after a week or so they'll be getting along.

We get along well with 2 litterboxes for our 5..changed daily and
    cleaned very often...

| | I have a 4 room flat with a laundry room and we have 3 cats. We had
our first 2 for a bout 4 years before we got the third. It took about
2 weeks of hissing and so on for things to settle down. If this is
what you want - then go for it - if you clean up after 2 then what's
    one more. GET ANOTHER ONE!

| | Sausha was 12 years old when Misty Rae came into our life. Misty Rae
was 5 weeks and Sausha thought she was the best little automated toy
that we ever brought home....until 6 months later when Misty Rae out
grew her; then she became bored with her and went back to her usual
    routine of eating and sleeping.

Misty Rae insisted in her kitten like manner to get Sausha to play with
her and this was good for Sausha because it brought out the kitten in
her. But Misty Rae has an endless amount of energy and Sausha was 12
and needed "Some" rest....so of course we needed another kitten for
    Misty Rae....

enter Freeway, who we got when Misty Rae was 1 year and Freeway was
4-1/2 weeks. Misty Rae had her hands full with Freeway and Sausha
could once again sleep and eat or enter the kitten activities when
she felt like it...and sometimes when she doesn't feel like it.

Had to get another litter box and a few more of this and that; but
we get a whole lotta love in return. The girls have their good days
and they have their bad days; meaning on the good they snuggle, sleep,
and groom....and on the bad they hiss, spit, and knock over all the
stuff on the tables racing thru the house after each other at ?? m.p.h.

Sausha will be 16 in a couple of months, Misty Rae is 4 today (April
1), and Freeway will be 3 on April 15th.

    I vote YES on 3!!

        Some of my favorite sayings:

"One can never have too many cats"

                    "What's one more?"

                       "Go for it!"

As long as you feel you can handle the added food, vet, litter costs,
why not? Find a kitty who desperately needs a home like yours and
have 3 times the love. I have 11 and they were added one at a time...
    one at a time......one at a time.........

| | I currently own a two-family and live in a 5 room apartment...the
rooms are real big with a cellar. We currently have seven cats
and a bird. The only time we have trouble...is when they all decided to
get involved in a game of chase. Just watch your step! They normally
all get along very well...but once in awhile we'll have a boxing match.

The negative side is that with so many...I find it can be a bit
expensive. The food and litter isn't too bad....but the vet
bills can get to you. My vet allows me to have a "tabby tab" which
    helps out alot.

Enough room...you bet. Enough love...you bet. Enough money...ha ha!

    Go for it!!

| | Hi!! I think I'll be asking the same question before long! We've had
tabitha for a year now & have decided to make an addition to the
family. We got Callie (the sweetest little calico) a couple of weeks
ago. She's 8 weeks old. We LOve her to little kitten cat pieces!!!

At first Tabitha HATED CAllie, stayed away & came over to swipe her
across the head occasionally if Callie was sleeping. Soon that turned
to curious sniffing & chasing & now they sleep, eat & play together.
They even groom each other. It took two days & they were pretty easy,
considering I have the most respectful cat I've ever seen!! Tabitha
WILL NOT bother Callie if she's in the litter box, eating, or sleeping.
But the kitten will not hesitate to attack Tabitha anytime she wants to
    play!!

I'd GO FOR IT! Your place sounds big enough & the babies seem to be
    social enough....WHY NOT!?

Let us know how ya make out! I hope to see a new intro from you soon!!

| | Your place sounds like our last apartment many many many years ago
    (4) when we had 3 cats.

For reference, I now had 11 adults and 7 kittens in a 6 room
    house.

| 4505.11 | well id did it!!!! | COMPTR::MILES |  | Mon Apr 08 1991 15:05 | 16 |
| | Well, I went and got another kitten. It is long-haired, gray and white female.
It looks like a BALL...emphasis on BALL of fur. It is very, very round...excuse
me...SHE is very, very round. I named her Pookie...My others are Precious and
Princy...They had to match!!!!
So far...the kittens haven't yet stopped hissing at each other...as a matter of
fact, Pookie is doing most of the hissing....surprisingly enough....I did
notice one positive thing this morning...they were sort of playing... i think.
I saw one cat...it happened to be Precious...running around the corner...and
directly after it came Pookie...role reversal, i guess....
Thanks for all the input....BUT..I should have known that anyone who reads this
notesfile would never say NO to getting another cat....What was I thinking?????

file is a funny note on "cat pushers". I'll have to go dig it up.
