Well here we go.......
It looks like we are going to be ending up adding Peaches (Note
4056) to our fold. (My poor husband still thinks we will be able
to find another home for her!)
To tell the truth, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed--4 existing animals,
4 children at times, 3 adults (a friend is living with us) all in
one condo is already hectic. But, h**l, what's a little more
confusion! (Gulp)
Anyway, my current plan is to put Peaches up in the 3rd floor
bedroom alone for a few days. Then to get a cage of some kind,
put her into it occasionally and start letting the other kitties
come up and sniff around--one at a time at first. My guess is
that Missy will mellow out about it fairly quickly, Brittany will
take a week or so but curiousity will win out and Melody will be
a problem for a few months--she is just now accepting Missy after
her being away for a week in May for surgery.
Since I've never introduced an older (1 1/2 years) cat into the
house (Missy and Brittany were babies and Melody adopted them
in 3 days), does my plan sound logical???
And, if it does, what is the best kind of cage to use and does
anyone have one available that we could rent/borrow? We live
in Maynard and I work at the Mill, if that helps.
All advice, wisdom or experiences are welcome.

| Sounds like a good plan to me....I would do something
similar to protect all the cats. I've only introduced
kittens to adults.
About the cage....make it a type that faces/feet can't
stick out or be available, 'cause I'm sure there will
be a lot of hissing and striking at each other through
the cage. Invasion of the private domain, you know! :-)

The cage set up has worked like a charm for me introducing Effie-cat
to out household. She loves it. I covered the back half with an
old sheet for some privacy, it has her litter box, a thick blanket
and her food. The big cats seem to feel more secure thinking she
is behind bars. It has become her very special haven and I'm having
a hard time diciding how to take it away from her. I may just move
the whole set up out of my dining room into the basement.

| What sped the acceptance process along for me was a flea bath for everyone. Once
they all stunk the same, they couldn't tell which kitty was new, and who the
house *really* belonged to.

I work in Stow MA and I have a cage that you can borrow. Assuming that
my kitties stay healthy, I won't need it. It's a medium sized cage
and it holds my 2 adult cats with room to spare. It might be little
crowded with a litter box in it too. I'll measure it for you tonight,
if you like. I also like the idea of a flea bath. My two growl at
each other if one goes someplace that the other doesn't, like the vet.
(They growl because of the smell.) That would solve that problem.
