    Re .1 - If I did that, I'd have a fox, 2 skunks, a raccoon
    and 1/2 dz cats helping it to disappear! :-)
    
    Don't forget to tell all your neighbors, check the sheds,
    garages and basements, all the surrounding pounds, police,
    shelters for a ten mile radius.

    	A few suggestions....if there are kids in your neighborhood,
    	ask them....they seem to know everything that happens on
    	'their turf' so to speak.  They may have seen them.
    
    	Also, ask a few of your neighbors if maybe your kitties could
    	have gotten shut into their cellar or storage shed of some
    	kind.  Our oldest cat has disappeared for up to two weeks 
    	at a time and I'm convinced they may have been what happened
    	with her.

    Thanks!!  I hope they'll show up soon!!  JJ, I certainly wish I was
    complaining about Dazdee getting into my lunch today!!  When he comes
    home (I have to say *when* and not *if*), he'll get his own fish 
    sandwich to spread out around the kitchen as he wishes!!!

    I second the idea about them getting accidentally shut into someone's
    garage/basement/storage shed.  That seems to happen to cats quite
    frequently.

I've checked with all the neighbors in the immediate area and had them open
the garages and sheds...  if by some chance that they are in a shed I haven't
checked, would they be alright??  I mean it's been hotter-n-heck here and
that must mean they haven't eaten in 3 or 4 day's...  I'm so worried that
they're suffering and I can't do anything about it!!

    Are Dazdee and Wicket friendly to strangers?  There was a note in
    canine recently about a dog that was abudcted here in Westboro, fled
    her captors, and was reunited with her owner 5 months later.  I hope
    that Dazdee and Wicket are just out painting the town and will come
    home soon.

Dazdee would be very friendly to strangers, especially if they had food
that he likes..  however, Whicket is ascared of her own shadow.  She hides
when I have friends in the house!!  It's just the last month or so that she
would even venture outside and then only in the yard.  If she did want in,
she climbed up to the roof and cried till I opened a window and let her 
in.  A very shy kittie...

Me too...  then I could sell the book rights to Disney with the adventure 
of their lives!!

    Once or twice a year (when I used  to let Pumpkin outside) she would
    stay gone for a few days at a time.  One time an entire week.  She
    eventually came back as if nothing happened.  Perhaps they just got the
    wildees.

    Well, there is still no sign of them...   All I can do now is wait

Still no sign of them...  I hate to think this, but my guess is that my
roommate got tired of living with cat's and decided to 'help out'.  So,
I'll close this note with a fond goodbye to my 4 year companians...
Dazdee and Whicket - you were great cats!!!

    Excuse me for prying, but what kind of a roommate do you have?  If you
    really suspect that he/she has disposed of your cats, isn't there
    anything you can DO about it??  Has your roommate given you any
    indication that he/she was involved???
    
    I'm sorry, but stuff like this simply infuriates me!  Just hearing
    about it brings my blood pressure to the boiling point.

She is actually a very nice person, but all the implications draw me to this
conclusion.  First of all, she had complained about all the fur and how I
wasn't vacuuming every 3rd day (she wasn't allergic when I moved in), she
is very set in her ways, the day the cat's disappeared just happened to 
be the day she had friends from out of town that were *very* allergic to
cats, they didn't run off or disappear the week before when I was on vacation
and had someone else feeding them, they both had collars with name, address
and phone #...  

If only one disappeard, I would have beleived someone picked him up, but
why would *both* cat's get picked up, especially when there are a dozen
in the neighborhood without collars??  

Plus, my roommate did say that she feels they are in a better place...  (I
took very good care of my cats!!)

Roberta, I'm very, very upset also, but if I did accuse her of it and she did
it, she would just deny it...  and on the off chance she didn't do it, then
I would look too paranoid (which is entirely possible).  I just don't understand
how both of them would leave..

    Sounds to me that she probably is responsible for their disappearance;
    if it were me, I would probably ask her if she did it, explain how much
    the cats mean to me and how much I miss them, and if she has any
    compassion at all to please be honest with you.  I realize how fragile
    roommate situations are; I've had several in the past, but if she
    really is a very nice person she should be honest with you.
    

    I would definitely question her....maybe you could bring it up
    by stating you think it's a coincident that your cats disappeared
    the same day she had company that was alergic to cats.  Maybe ask
    if her company could have done something...then your not directly
    questioning her.
    
    Please question her maybe she sent your kitties to a shelter and
    you know what can happen there.  I hate putting more pressure on you,
    but if your roommate did this....she is not considered a "nice" person
    in my book.  She could have dealt with the problem by communicating
    to you directly and working out a solution to fit both of you.

I've thought of that, question her, but not directly...  or just bring
a friends cat home to see her reaction...  I would get another one, but 
I can't take that chance right now, until I know for sure.  I do beleive that 
she would put her own personal comfort (or whatever) above her conscience.

I won't and I know something has to give.   I could just come right out and
tell her that I'm a paranoid schitzo and just need to hear it from her
own mouth that she didn't do anything....

I'll let you know, if I get the nerve up to do it this weekend.

    Katie, you are not a paranoid schitzo, just a concerned and very
    worried pet owner.  One thing I have learned over the years is not to
    let other people get the best of me or intimidate me.  Questioning her
    indirectly sounds like the best approach.  Body language is a key
    factor in determining whether or not the other person is telling you
    the truth.  If she avoids making eye contact or becomes flustered or
    enraged, chances are she isn't being honest with you.  I know it is
    hard to get up the nerve to say something but please know that we are
    all behind you and want you to get your kitties back.

Katie...the very fact that you suspect such behavior from someone with whom
you share a home indicates you must begin to save up money and start looking
for another place to live.  This is a seriously damaged relationship and it
won't get better with time.  If you cannot live as equals, you cannot share
living quarters.  Your intimidation in the face of confronting her about
this is not healthy for your own self-respect.  Time to make other
arrangements.  And, under no circumstances, should you bring in another
cat or dog or fish or anything as long as you live with someone who is 
capable of removing the animal without informing you -- quite probably to 
a shelter where the animal's future is, at best, uncertain.

    Katie....do you have any update you can give us.  I've been

Well, my roommate swears she doesn't know how they could have disappeared...
so it would do no good to accuse her of it.  But nothing has come about.
I won't have to worry about affording to move out, it looks as though I'll
have to anyway, since I'm going to be laid off real soon (I'm a Contractor)
and will have to move away from the NE area anyway.  I just have to hope and
pray that they are in a good home and happy, somewhere.

Thank you all for caring!!  I miss them at this time in my life more then
ever and I hope they don't return after I move (in the next couple of months).

    Perhaps if you left a forwarding address your roommate would contact
    you if they did come back.

Do you think there is still a chance that they could come back after

    	Just when we humans think we've got the critters figured out
    	they'll go and do something totally out of the 'ordinary'.
    	So they may someday return.  Let's just hope that it is

    They could still come back...so please leave a number where your
    roommate could contact you.   Do you look in the paper everynight
    under the Animal Lost and Found?  There are some nice people out
    there that would put a "found"  ad in the paper if they found a
    cat.    Also if you haven't done so already...put a Lost ad in
    the paper.  I do know what it feels like to lose a kitty because
    my sisters kitty CAM disappeared in July and we have not found
    him anywhere...and believe me we did everything we could....and we
    won't give up.
    
    Hopefully your babies will return....good luck.  If you find them...
    please find a way to update this note.  I love happy endings...and
    wish for the best.

    Not too long ago, one of my aunts cats dissapeared.  He was an ex-feral
    which she befriended over the course of a year, and eventually had
    him fixed and converted him to in/out type.  The cats had plently of
    love and care, however one day he never came home with the other.
    
    She did the same, signs, calls, walked neighborhoods....you name it. 
    Her cats also had id tags. To this day, she can't figure out why he
    left.........the daily routine was the same over the past few years.
    
    She hopes that someone took him in.....but can't imagine who would
    if he had id.  and if he was killed, that he didn't suffer. 
    
    
    I don't know if there is any connection, but I was reading this note
    and started thinking of my aunt.  I hope your two and my aunts
    eventually return.....
