| | Such a happy puss. But might she have gotten the welt if she fell
from the top of the fridge down behind it?

| | I THOUGHT OF THE CAT FALLING ALSO, HOWEVER, THE WAY THE APARTMENT IS
CONSTRUCTED THERE IS ABOUT 1 INCH 1 1/2 INCHES BETWEEN THE REFRIG AND
THE CABINETS, EVEN AS SKINNY AS SHE WAS I DONT THINK SHE COULD HAVE
FALLEN THERE. THERE IS THE DISTINCT POSSIBILY THAT SHE DID FALL,
HOWEVER FOR HER TO HAVE A WELT RIGHT THERE SHE MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING
    QUITE STRANGE!

THANKS FOR WRITING BACK! IM GLAD TO SEE THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE WHO
    STILL CARE ABOUT CATS!

| | That is a wonderful story. I love happy endings and would love to
see a picture of Snuggles. Are you coming to the Feline party in
Littleton on Aug 2nd?? Please say yes.

BTW - I'm puzzled as to why no vet would give you any help. That
sounds rather cruel to me. Perhaps you can shed some light.

| | What a great story. We don't have a lot of happy endings to our
    stories.

(Don't read this if you are faint of heart) Could the former owners
have tried to hit her in the head, hoping it would be a fatal blow
missed and she crawed off behind the frig?

I do hope these people get caught and punishment metered out to fit
the circumstances, and it's told on TV and in the newspapers.

Hope to see you at the feliners get together.

| | Or perhaps the welt could have been caused by the elements of the
fridge. Maybe she got too close to the working parts, or something
like that. Or maybe she was pinned in there until you found her.

| 3775.8 | Maybe they thought she was lost | PHAROS::LAURIE |  | Mon Jul 09 1990 19:06 | 9 |
| | Could the former owners have thought that the kitten got lost during
their move, as many animals do? They might have been convinced that
she got out of the apartment while they were in process of moving.

Granted, if they thought this, they should have returned and looked
for their cat. But, a 12 week kitten is pretty large, I'm not sure
I would think of looking behinda refrigerator for one (not before
    reading this, at least.)

| | Nancy,

At the time the vets did not want to spend what they thought was a
waist of time. No vet that I talked to thought she would live. Please
remember we are living in a place where time is money, and heaven help
you if your heart comes before your pocketbook. Unfortunately I will
be unable to attend August 2. I am getting married on the 18th and
I just cant het away!. But heres a little note or you! Snuggles will
be attending my wedding! I know that sounds strange, she is just so
much apart of Scotts and my lives. Now we just have to make sure no
    one brings their dog!!!

| | That reminds me of my favorite cartoon "Cat Court". The cartoon
depicts a court case, complete with a cat as the judge. The case
is that the woman wants her cat to be her maid of honor, and the
husband-to-be disagrees. The judge awards that not only will the
cat be the maid of honor, but the groom must pay for her dress and
matching shoes!! :^) :^) I have had that cartoon on my fridge
for about 7 years now. Don't even remember where I got it. I think
my nutty friend sent it to me. She sends me anything that has even
a remote link to cat's in it. :^)

A gal that bought one of my cat's had her first Birman queen in
her wedding pictures. Kayleigh was in the shots that the photographer
took at her house while she was getting ready, and then in some
posed shots too. I think that was a great idea. And, Birmans really
look nice against white satin. :^)

| 3775.11 | Comic is by Nicole Hollander | PINION::LAURIE |  | Tue Jul 10 1990 19:35 | 14 |

That cartoon (.10) is by Nicole Hollander.

It's from the "Sylvia" comic strip. She does lots of cartoons with
dogs and cats in them. The maid of honor one is one of my favorites.

She also did a whole series about people being asked questions at the
gates of Heaven about how they treated their pets, as a criterion for
admission. Things like, "Did you paint your dog's toenails? Did you
laugh at your pets when they tried to jump on the couch and missed?"

    They were hysterical.

| | re: .9 - Thanks for the explanation. I'm glad you stayed in there.
No doubt you have a very special relationship with your little
    patient.

You're right about heart and pocketbook. People often express
the feelings that vets should spay and neuter for free or for
very reduced rates. If a vet didn't charge the right amount
for his/her services, s/he wouldn't stay in business very long
and that wouldn't do anyone any good.
