| 3731.1 | Re-phrase what happen. | TFH::DALESSANDRO |  | Fri Jun 22 1990 08:40 | 14 |
| | This is just to re-phrase what happen to the kitten. As of today,
    my wife and I have 2 cats and 1 full grown german shepard. We do love
    and care for our pets. I just so happens that the cats are indoor
    cats. We live too close to the highway and don't want to take a
    chance with them getting hit by letting them outside. So, my wife
    gave away the kitten who was peeing on the rug to a girl friend who
    would let the kitten play outside and hopefully pee outside. The
    friend is aware of the problem with the rugs, but she still wanted to
    give it a try. It's been a year later and she still has the cat.

    	So if anyone knows about removing urine smell from wood floors,
    please let me know soon........

    						Thanks.... Jim

    Thanks for explaining what happened to the kitten! There are several
    things you can try on wood, especially if you are going to cover it
    with carpet. Most of the remedys will discolor hardwood.

    Home remedy: Soak, really soak the spot with white vinegar and water
    (a 50:50 mix) let it dry, and do a sniff test. Repete if necessary.

    Buy a product called Natures Miracle and follow the directions on the
    label.

    Drastic remedy: Replace the boards in the floor that were urinated on.

    Good luck,

| | I had trouble finding Nature's Miracle so I used Outright (in the
    green bottle) and it does a good job.

| | When I was at Blue Seal Feeds in Nashua the other day, I noticed
    they had Natures Miracle and Outright. The price for NM was, if I
    remember correctly, $4.70 for a pint, and $7.00 for a quart. I
    didn't check the price on the Outright.

| | Thanks, Jim, for the clarification!!

    Natures Miracle really does work. But, what I have noticed with
    the 2 pee stains in my carpet is that the urine soaked thru to the
    padding underneath, so there is still a urine odor that can be smelled
    in damp/humid weather.

    Outright is a good product too.

| 3731.6 | help! | AYOV18::TWASON |  | Tue Jul 03 1990 10:51 | 12 |
| | Hopefully someone will be able to help. Being in the UK I haven't
    heard of any of the brand names mentioned previously.

    What I need is something to remove the disgusting smell lingering
    in my car from when we had Spookie at the vet. She peed in her
    basket and it soaked thru all the paper etc we put down and into
    the carpet on the floor. It's driving John my hubbie mad.

    Someone please help.

| 3731.7 | Try the pet shop ... | XNOGOV::LISA |  | Tue Jul 03 1990 11:07 | 8 |
| | If you visit any good pet shop, they stock de-odourising stuff. Also
    Savacentre stocks some products. I think its just a case of trial and
    error to find a good one. I used to get a can of spray foam from
    the Betterware man - that works! I have got a bottle of cleaner from
    the pet shop but haven't used it yet ( hope I never have to!)
