Bailey's mom, Candy, jumps in the shower every morning. She just loves
water. Bath time has never been a problem for her. Sounds like he
takes after he in this regard. Loved your story!!

Your Bailey is truly amazing. I really believe that's there is
a little person in there somewhere - Let me know how he enjoys playing
with the magic ball - the bath tub "would" be a great place to bounce
    it off of.

| | One of my cats Smokey comes screaming in the minute she hears me
pull back the shower curtain. Then when I turn on the water, she
jumps on the edge of the tub and watches the water. Here is the
funny thing - when I go to step in she either takes a swat or lightly
bites me on the ankle. She's also amazed when the water is flushing
down the toilet and goes to swat me when I close the seat cover.
I can't figure her out. Rocky on the other hand will have nothing
    to do with the bathroom.

| 3597.6 | Faucet attachment for bathing cats needed | WR1FOR::BROMARTH | Theresa Bromar | Mon May 14 1990 15:50 | 10 |
| | Does anyone know where I can buy (or send away for) an attachment
that is large enough to fit around the bathtub faucet? I need to
effectively wash a cat. Currently, I'm wetting and rinsing Altaira
(my 2yr. old torbie) with a plastic cup, and that is not fast or
    effective.

Formerlly, I bought an attachment at Longs Drugs stores, but it
was too small to fit over the Bath faucet. Then, I sent away for
one, but although the company cashed my check, they never sent the
    attachment!

| | Theresa, come to the cat show in San Jose on the 26th and 27th of
May. There is a vendor that comes to the shows called Pro Vet and
they have attachments for kitchen sinks. The show is in the old
convention center in downtown San Jose. Write me mail for more
    info.

| | The best thing in the world for washing cats and people too, is
those hand held shower attachments. They are not expensive and are
very versatile. Not only are they great for taking a shower and
getting that water right where you need it....or massaging the back of
the legs,.......but the cats don't mind being washed with it either.
The hose is long enough to reach the tub easily and gets right under
    those furry bellies.

| | I don't know about you, but I prefer to do my kitty bathing in the
upright position, rather than crouched over the tub. Thank goodness
my kitchen sink came equiped with a spray nozzle. :^) We do the
dog with our shower massage though, and she loves it. Even stands
still without any encouragement from us.

| 3597.10 | Into the bath with HopeyCat | RHODES::GREENE | Catmax = Catmax + 1 | Mon May 14 1990 19:17 | 20 |
| | My cats don't tend to like baths, and fortunately, only the
occasional show kitty gets one. But HopeyCat gets them the most,
and he hates them the most! He is a gentle creature, but he
squirms like <whatever squirms most> under the kitchen faucet
with the spray nozzle. My hand gets a cramp from holding the
    back of his neck TIGHT.

However, in motels when we travel and I didn't have time to wash
him before we left, I had to be inventive. So HopeyCat and I
hop in the tub (well, I hop...HopeyCat is, um, "urged"), and I
kneel in front of the running faucet and bath him. Actually, I
find that it provides the best water power for rinsing, and he
doesn't seem to like it any worse or better. Why don't I do it
like that at home? Well, getting all splashed with water makes
me COLD. It's not quite like standing under a warm shower.

Believe it or not, he does not scratch my legs. He just looks
and acts miserable. Poor thing. The price of beauty!

| | I'm with you Jo, I always bathe my cats in the kitchen sink. I have

aerator to the actual faucet spout. Works Great!

Pookie purrs during bathtime, Preschie plays we have "bathtime toys..
I bought them in the baby dept..we have a duckie,a boat, a ball..

| 3597.13 | Sink vs. Bathtub bathing | WR1FOR::BROMARTH | Theresa Bromar | Tue May 15 1990 15:34 | 12 |
| | I would love to be able to bath my cat in the sink, however, I find
that because they can see excape routes in 360 degrees, they constantly
try to jump here or there.

Whereas, when I place them in the bath tub and I'm blocking their only
exit with my body, they tend to settle down. I find it easier to
manage their behavior...but it is harder on my back.

That's why I want to find a bath attachment, so I can get them wet
faster, and also rinse them off faster. (By the way, I'm going to
try and make it to the CFA cat show in San Jose...I saw it listed
    in CatFancy.)

| | Ah bath time!

When I had my bathtub installed, I asked the plumber not to place
the shower nozzle up high in the usual position - instead, I asked
him to install it about 6 or 8 inches above the water spout that
fills the tub. He looked at me like I was crazy! But, I attached
an adjustable hand-held shower spray attachment with hose to it,
and all the kids have their baths in the tub. They walk around
the tub, and don't have to be held down - gives them more freedom
of movement and they seems to tolerate baths better. I hated the
mess in the kitchen from bathing - and I don't mind kneeling by
the tub cause I'm only 5 feet tall and don't have to bend down
very far! Lil loves the massage setting on the shower head!

    Hi Chris,

I don't know about your cats, but my Panther went in our pool, just
    once!

She was out on the deck with me in her harness and leash, hubby was in
the pool, and Panther was on the edge, and Jerry stuck his toes out of
the water and wiggled them just out of Panther's reach. WEllllll....

She went in after them! (Bear in mind that this is the cat that, of
her own accord, gets in the bathtub with me!) She was not pleased with
the pool though. Her feet didn't touch the bottom, and the water was
way to cold for her!!! (She didn't like the taste of the chlorine
either.) She forgave Jerry and now only stands on the edge and looks
distainfully out over the water, or just sunbathes.

    Feline All WET,

Sue & Panther & Spot (I'll just stay in the house and watch Mummie.)
