    Steve,

recipe for nights sleep as follows;-

    1) Lock cat in another room for two nights until cat gets used to
    silence at night.

    2) Drink on bottle of Scotch to ensure sleep.

| | You might consider some company for your friend. That will do
two things - 1. give him someone to play with during the day
hopefully keeping him out of trouble, getting him good exercise
and companionship and tiring him out.

    2. When he does want to play during the evening he'll have someone
to play with who won't mind being up at 3 am.

| | Benjamin likes to get up during the night also... usually when he's
hungry. I tried to leave a full bowl of dry food (Iams) before going
to bed so if he's hungry, he'll eat it. But then again, if it's
Bonkers he wants, then he won't shut up. Also, the moon cycles
(especially the full moon) will effect his sleeping habits.

I like the idea of getting him a playmate. Your new kitty is alone all
day and probably sleeps and is bored. You come home and BANG, someone
to play with. Another kitty companion would do the trick. The cat can
also be adjusting to a new environment and it might take a couple of
days to realize night time is for sleeping.

| | Hi Everyone,

Last night I finally got a nights sleep. I tried Mom's ol' recipe
of putting on the radio. I guess he rocked himself to sleep with the
music. Or I was so tired I couldn't hear him cry??? I loved your
suggestions. I will consider another playmate. Will he accept one???
I know some cats are territorial.

    Thanks,

    Steve

The younger the cat when you introduce a buddy the better.
I say go for it! And now that you've got your purebred how about
a nice shelter kitty!! You can find some real unique cats in
    the shelters.
