oh, c'mon Phil, you know the answer to that....

    	chop-chop-chop! the bits must go!

makes you cringe, huh? my husband can't stand to talk about it
    	either...! :P :)

seriously, MB will almost definitely start to spray, esp
if he's going outside and marking his territory. Inside
the house is his territory, too, right?? Plus some vets
say that neutering will prevent prostate problems when he
    	gets older.

| | C'mon Phil - spraying is only part of it. You're well aware of
the pet overpopulation problem. There's NO excuse for not getting
him neutered. Don't take it so personally (Typical male ;-)

I keep telling these vets to STOP calling it Castration!! I don't
know of any male who doesn't instinctively "duck and cover" when he
    hears that term!!

| | I didn't like the thought of "surgery" either, but after having
a $200 bedspread permanently "marked" and ruined, not to mention
two cats trying to rush out the door everytime it was opened, off
to the vets they went. My husband also cringed at the thought, but
there are already too many unwanted furfaces without a loving home.

The house is a lot more peaceful now without the over-active hormones
from these two busting out into acts with sexual overtones. My
two adults are very relieved, also. They were being chased and
    harassed, too.

Life has *almost* returned to normal.

| | I'd recommend having it done real soon, too. I got my cat when he was
12 months old (1 yr ago). After he got used to being in our house and
settled in, he started sitting in the window and moaning every time a
cat walked by the yard. He was suffering.

I seriously debated having the operation due to my own male sensitivity
and my wife's feeling of compassion. I felt that his behavior couldn't be
that bad. What pushed me in the direction of him having the operation
was seeing too many cats and not enough loving homes. There are not enough
    no-kill cat shelters.

High up on the list of decision-clinchers was the the fact that he was
starting to make a mess of our home with his aggressiveness and marking
behavior. It's not a compassionate act to leave him unaltered. It's just
uninformed. He really would be better off in the long run. Any vet will
tell you the same. There are plenty of referrals to good vets in this
    Notes file, too.

When my cat returned home from the one night stay at the vets, he was
fine. You'd swear he was the same. After a month or so, his behavior
became a bit less wild and peaceful. He's plenty playful and interested
in everything as before. It's now been a year and his behavior is
    great.

    Don't hesitate.

    Russ

They tend to mellow out a bit once they get *fixed*, which is a
nice change from the rambunctousness (sp?) you're probably used
to... the spraying is horrible when they're not fixed, and it's
really hard to get the smell out of the carpets. And they fill
out as well. I don't think it affects them *too* bad. It takes
a few days for them to get used to it, but afterwards it's no
    big deal...
... especially if they've never *got it* before

Now folks, just because the dangly bits aren't there doesn't
mean the cat can't have his fun. Flame is living proof. Honest!!
He has his daily trysts with the fake fur cat bed. He purrs and
purrs and patty-paws and well..... Lets just say that although he
never quite finishes what he starts he gets well into it. He's
answered some of the more sensitive questions I had about male
cat sexual behavior - after neutering!! And, he's VERY discrete
    about it all.
He may turn out to be a big help to Bonnie before we're ready
to breed her but after she's old enough to go into heat. Then
again, Exotics aren't known for their incredible brain power -
he may just always prefer the cat-bed.

If its there he'll eat it - in fact, if it doesn't move he'll

did and lets face it, that pushed in face just isn't very ferocious

In fact, Flame is so polite that he's just sit and politely
wait for his portion of my meal. He only pushes on my legs
