    How "new" is the baby?  Your kitty was there first and may just need
    a longer adjustment time.  Make sure to give kitty lots of TLC and a
    second chance - it sounds like she has such a good home and a loving
    family to go with it.

    BTW - I'm due with my first "human" baby in June.  It will be real
    intersting to see how my "kitty" babies react.  I'm sure that they will
    be real jealous at first too.  In fact, when my friends came to stay
    with us for a weekend with their new baby, Puffin got so jealous that
    she started limping, just like a dog would, so that someone would pay
    some attention to her!  

    There are LOADS of pregnant people in this notes file - I hope it's not

Seriously, I found that our elderly cat adapted after a few weeks ...... I had 
her on my lap and gave her a cuddle at the same time as the baby. Eventually, 
when she saw me get the baby bottle ready she went and sat on my chair waiting 
for me to fetch the baby and sit down. She was given a lot of extra attention at 
the beginning - eventually she forgot that she had been the only centre of 
attention and became quite interested in the burbles and sucking noises! She was 
one of the first things that my daughter saw when she could focus her eyes. The 
cat (Twiggy) was 13 at the time and had had a long time as top cat. Given the 
basic fact that the cat in question here is a Maine Coone, with their history of 
good naturedness I would say that the cat will settle in time.


Avril (and Jenny and Pip)
