| 3187.1 | Make that FRESH running water! | CSC32::K_KINNEY |  | Sat Dec 30 1989 22:28 | 9 |

    	So what is it about bathroom sinks anyhow? Catnip does
    	the same thing your Kitty does. Strange. She doesn't
    	like 'old' sink water either. I gotta run new stuff
    	while she watches... And I thought I was a rotten kid
    	in the middle of the night requesting KITCHEN water
    	instead of BATHROOM water?

| 3187.2 | The basin is the cat's bath?! | IOSG::THOMPSONR | with an IQ of a demented grape..... | Tue Jan 02 1990 06:33 | 5 |
| | Henri(etta)'s a real sink lover too, although I've often wondered if
    she's trying to copy me by having her own bath in our sink. The way
    she sits in the basin, licking herself and then looking underneath the
    taps waiting for me to turn them on, has always suggested that she
    regards it as a place to wash - just like us!! (am I mad or what?)

| 3187.3 | (Why get water from a dish when you can get it from the source) | ISLNDS::BROUGH |  | Tue Jan 02 1990 09:28 | 10 |
| | Lately, my little female Dixie, has jumped up on the bathroom
    counter and she watched the water running out of the faucet while
    I brushed my teeth (sometimes it is a pain to have to push her head
    out of the way so that I could rinse out my mouth :-)), so I decided
    to let her get a drink for herself. I slowed the water down to
    a trickle and she would stick her ear under the water and play with
    the water as it hit the drain. Every once in awhile, she would
    try to get a drink, but she just likes to play with it. She is
    a strange kitty as I put water in a water dish and when she comes
    to get a drink, she has to wash her paws in the dish first. Sheesh!

| | Ha-ha, thought you could catch me out eh? :-) I found out over
    christmas from an American friend that you call taps faucets!
    I also saw a bit of the Jane Fonda workout video - I couldn't
    believe it when she said " Now wriggle across the floor on your
    fanny"!!!! Surprised or what!!

| 3187.5 | Rosie the water cat | SHIPS::FARROW_S | Percy, Who's Queen... | Tue Jan 02 1990 13:52 | 17 |
| | Rosie our 8 month old will sit for hours in the sink playing with
    the water from the tap. She does not mind in the least at getting
    wet and will often sit under the tap with the water running over
    her head.

    How about this though, a friend has a beautiful burmese called Ziggy
    and Ziggy has been found on several occasions in the lavatory and
    appears to be quite unconcerned, he just sits there waiting to be
    hooked out. Whether his arrival to this peculiar state was by design
    or accident, we will never know but they do now make sure that the
    seat is always down!.

| 3187.6 | water coon? | PARITY::DENISE | And may the traffic be with you | Tue Jan 02 1990 16:46 | 12 |
| | My Silvy-poo has to have fresh water - from the kitchen only. He will
    watch as I rinse and fill a fresh bowl, and then drink deeply. If it's
    been sittin' for a while, forget it!

    Mitties loves to drink from the faucet, a slight trickle will do. She
    loves the sound it makes, that alone will bring her running.

    Coons love water reputedly anyway. All the ones I've ever known sure
    fit the bill. I hope Kitty the coon brings you many more years filled
    with coonlove.

| 3187.7 | How many prefer the toilet? | SQLRUS::FISHER | Pat Pending | Wed Jan 03 1990 10:47 | 12 |
| | My former cats TC, Popcorn and Groucho liked the toilet. Hobbes
    does too but he's the only one who drinks from the toilet while
    standing on the floor (He's getting longer?).

    This reminds me of a quirk of Groucho's. She would drink water by
    getting her paw wet and lapping it -- I suppose you could say she
    cupped it in her paw but I doubt it -- rahter than reaching with her
    tongue.

    Of course, I keep the toilets flushed.

| | Rex, our cornish rex, will play in the kitchen sink, drink water, knock over
glasses...etc. It is my understanding that this behavior is typical of
rex's anyway. One of our other cats TUT, a siameese fatpoint (color point but
kind of chunky!) will wash his food in water before eating it. Generally,
the water plate next to the wet food will have been discolored from his washing
of the food. He will also wash his toys any anything else he can drop in there.
Has anyone else ever seen this behavior in their kitties.
Ira and cast of 4 cats.

| 3187.9 |  | WR2FOR::CORDESBRO_JO | set home/cat_max=infinity | Wed Jan 03 1990 13:41 | 5 |
| | Joui is notorious for filling all the water bowls with toys. She
    likes to dunk them, then fish them out. Once wet, they are much
    easier to "kill" I guess.

| 3187.10 | cat "fish" | TALLIS::DUTTON | Its only rock'n'roll, but I like it | Wed Jan 03 1990 17:03 | 9 |
| | Lots of watercats out there! Thor will curl around the faucet when its
    running at just a trickle, then reach out and "kill" the trickle and
    lick the "blood" off his paw! He bites at it too, and looks confused
    when his head gets soaked -- not the brightest of bulbs. Both he and
    Loki got in the habit of sticking their heads down into our water
    glasses to drink from them -- as they're getting older, it's getting
    to be a bit of a tight fit. When they stick their heads in, they also
    seem to like to attack the outside of the glass with their paws --
    it's *so* funny to watch.

| 3187.11 | Water = Rex | TOPDOC::TRACHMAN | Exotic Shorthairs=NO Grooming | Wed Jan 03 1990 17:17 | 11 |
| | A trait belonging to a Rex, you say. If a day goes by that I
    don't say to my Terror, GET THE H#LL OUT OF THE SINK when the
    water is dripping of his brainless head.....

    Yes, he is a brown tabby cornish rex - a little slow, but the
    most WONDERFUL baby boy in the world and sweeter than sugar.
    He really loves water - gets into the tub before all the
    water has drained out and then wonders why his feet are
    wet...He's somethin' else.

|  |     Er...how to be delicate...um...

    "Fanny" is the British Isles euphamism for the female sex/birth/urinary
    organ/canal. It would have been like if she had said "slide across
    the floor on your c***" here in the US.

    I hope this did not offend anyone, that was not the intent.

| | Yeah, Silver drinks from the faucet too.

    Imagine this. A Korat sitting at the ourside corner of the sink.
    She strattles the sink and then reaches over and gets a drink. It is a
    RIOT to watch!! But as soon as I try and turn the water on more, she
    gets scared and runs.
